Al Akbar National Mosque

Al Akbar National Mosque is one of the biggest mosques in Indonesia and a landmark of Surabaya city. Built on an area of 11.2 hectares, Masjid Al-Akbar has a building area of 28,509 m2 and can accommodate 36,000 worshippers. Zahirah and Zahra created this project covering the entire mosque area, including the indoor, outdoor, and all facilities.

The enhancement of the image of Muslim Development in Surabaya can be achieved by maximizing the potential of the existing facilities at Masjid Al-Akbar Surabaya and communicating this to visitors through Environmental Graphic Design. This project uses two languages: Indonesian and English. The result of this design includes signage, wayfinding, placemaking, and interpretive signage at Masjid Al-Akbar Surabaya, with the aim of conveying messages through the design concept. The wayfinding design was created with 3D Blender software.
